To kick off the college football season the unranked Texas Longhorns took on the #10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish. A surprise to many, the Longhorns came out of the game victorious in a 50-47 shootout in Austin. And with that, Texas made the AP poll rankings for the first time under coach Charlie Strong. They skyrocketed up to #11 in an instant. A week later, in El Paso, the Longhorns humiliated UTEP 41-7. Are we ready to say that the Longhorns are “back”? If not now, then when? Thus far, the offense has been adequately run by rookie quarterback Shane Buechele. How long before he stutters? Can we really count on the legs of Tyrone Swoopes? The impressive start to the season has only led to even more fascinating questions. In this pivotal year for Coach Strong, will he live up to the enormous standards placed on him, as coach of one of the most storied colleges in America?
