After 12 wonderful years, Prince Fielder has announced his retirement. He will retire with an identical number of home runs and nearly identical number of hits to his father, Cecil. Since his first time at the plate, Fielder was known as an extremely dangerous power-hitter. To add to that, he was seen as a durable player, who oftentimes finished entire seasons without so much as a twisted ankle. However, as the years passed, Fielder began to suffer problems stemming from his neck and spine. It has led to two spinal fusion surgeries. The second of which, ended his career. Never will the Rangers find such a lovable and often dependable guy such as Prince. Almost as sad, Prince and Elvis jokes will no longer be tolerable. Prince Fielder will leave not only the Rangers, but the entirety of MLB in a better place. As he leaves, we will say goodbye to a player not known for being glamorous, but gritty. He will exit having shown us strength on the diamond.
